  1 Reception
Reception The reception is in the thatched barn which contains the refreshment bar and souvenirs shop.

Exhibits of specialist nature are to be found.

  2 Woodshed
Woodshed Here timbers were placed after cutting so that they would dry out.

The barn beneath contains examples of farm carts.

  3 Chemist Shop
This chemists shop was formerly owned by Mr F.W. Whitwell and was donated as a complete pharmacy, chemist and post office.

  4 Cobbler's Shop
The contents of the cobbler's shop were donated by the Paul family and contain machinery and tools used in the shoe making and repair trade.

  5 Pump Room
This barn contains various tools used to construct dykes and ditches to drain the fen land.

A variety of pipes used to retain the drainage of the soil by taking water to ditches and dykes where water was pumped into rivers.

  6 Barn
Cobbler's Shop A collection of scales, grinders, cake breakers and hand tools make up this exhibit.

Note the carvings on the wooden walls.

  7 Whitehall Barn
This barn provides a cultural centre and demonstration area for conferences and presentations.

  8 The Kitchen
Kitchen The kitchen and washroom captures the atmosphere of a typical fenland home in pre-electric days.

  9 The Living Room
This room shows the furniture and items found in a fen cottage parlour. Items of Victorian clothing are displayed here.

10 The Bedroom
A brass bedstead and other items were to be found in a cottage bedroom.

11 General Display
This area contains examples of toys, office equipment, Ramsey town band uniforms and instruments, sewing machines, lace making, fen skating and sports equipment.

On the wall can be found school photographs of past pupils from Ramsey School. We have photo's of individuals from 1936 and 1951, and we have photo's of groups from the sixties. We know who some of the people are, can you help identify some more ?

12 Upper Floor
School Room This contains exhibits of
A School Room as would be seen in the late Victorian times.

World war II Memorabilia, Underground Observation Post, Models of planes which flew from Upwood Air Base, Railways in Ramsey.

13 The Open Barn
Open Barn
The open barn display has a wealth of restored farm machines and equipment which extends onto the forecourt area, where a Well was discovered and subsequently reconstructed.

14 Tractor Barn
Some examples of older models of well known tractor designs and manufacture.

15 Trades Display Room
Trades Room
The Trades Display room has tools and implements once used by local craftsmen to make the everyday items used in the home and on the farm. For example the farrier, builder, brickmaker, baker, dairyman, bee-keeper, wheelwright, thatcher and animal husbandman.

16 Ramsey Stores
Ramsey Stores At the end of the Tea room can be found the Ramsey Stores, which provides a nostalgic view of shop furniture, scales and packaging of yesteryear.

17 The Tea Room
Seating is provided in the Tea room where, after your wanderings around the Museum, you can enjoy tea and refreshments in quiet surroundings and view the farmland outside.
Dissolution
After the Dissolution, the 10th. Century Ramsey Abbey was quarried for stone. Some is thought to be part of the Museum building now. The Museum was originally late 17th. or early 18th. Century farm buildings.
